I have a Compaq Armada 110 I bought it for parts and end up fixing it. I installed a new Pentium III 800Mhz Socket 370 Processor CPU because I bought the laptop without one and it runs fine until it starts to shut off. Heres the problem And when I turn on my laptop after a few minutes it shuts off and the bottom feels hot and the fan don't blow i'm not sure if thats the problem. Processor INTEL Celeron 800 Chipset Intel 440BX chipset, PCI bus Version 2.1 Hard Drive 80 GB Memory 576 MB SDRAM Video Chipset ATI Rage LT Pro 3D 2X AGP Video Controller VIDEORAM 8MB And when I turn on my laptop after a few minutes it shuts off and the bottom feels hot and the fan don't blow i'm not sure if thats the problem.
If the fan doesn't run at all, you probably have an issue. Have you checked the voltage at the fan plug, and if the fan works when attached to a DC supply?
OK I check and shake the wire plug and it starts to spin full speed then it stops and does it again. Is that normal for this kind of laptop
Well if you have to wobble the plug to get it to power on, then no, it implies there's a faulty connection there somewhere.
No I mean is it nomal for a laptop fan to wind-up for 3 seconds and shut off and then wind-up again after 3 minutes. I didn't have to wobble it. It was just loose
Typically what you'll find is that when you first turn the laptop on, the fan will run at full speed for a few seconds then turn off or turn down. After a while as the laptop heats up the fan will turn on, which may or may not be full speed, depending on how good the fan controller is.
I was thnking about getting a cooler pad but not sure which one there are 4 choices. Please help me choose 1. 3 Fans Aluminum High Quality (OEM), 2500 RPM X3, over 45 CFM of air flow... http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Aluminum-Lap...QQcmdZViewItem 2. Non-Slip Laptop Cooler & Heat shield XPAD NO FANS NOISE... http://cgi.ebay.com/Non-Slip-Laptop-...QQcmdZViewItem 3. (This Ones Scares me)PCMCIA Notebook Cooler Fan USB Power cooling Laptop... http://cgi.ebay.com/New-PCMCIA-Noteb...QQcmdZViewItem 4. There's also one with 4 built in USB Ports
The ebay links you posted didn't come out right in the afterdawn page, you'll have to post them again.

The last two will be completely and utterly useless. The third one will have no effect, and the last one will make things worse (for the same reason that Xbox 360 intercoolers make the situation worse). it comes down to the first two. The second is by far higher quality (ignore the stupid ebay page). As for the performance, the first one will be very noisy but probably cool better. Obviously the second is fanless, but probably won't do quite as well. If it were me, I'd go with the second one. Laptops usually don't overheat that badly unless you modify them. The noise of the first one would drive me insane (20dB? no. It's $5 for crying out loud. Individual fans that cost $10 each will make at least 30dB at 2500rpm, and there's three of them in there. They'll be cheap, nasty and noisy)
What was the original speed of the processor? Maybe its not built (talking about cooling) to handle a 800Mhz Celeron.
This laptop is a original P3 but was sold without the cpu. The thing with this laptop is that the P3 series only goes from 800 mhz- 1G I wish I could find a 1G cpu
I don't even own a laptop unfortunately, so I wouldn't know any good ones in particular, but what you're looking for is one with plenty of vent holes, and an obvious path the airflow takes that won't get obstructed by anything. You're also looking for fans that ideally are below 2000rpm, and above 60mm in size.
Try some thermal grease on it even though I doubt that will help. Since it is an original P3, then a Celeron should work since they generate less heat. Just try to fix the fan, I think that is the only option.
