This has happened once before and I was able to fix it by reinstalling the audio driver, but it's not working this time no matter what I try to do. So I'd like to ask here for some help. I made no new installations or other updates to the computer (that I know of) before the sound went, but it was all of a sudden gone when I brought it out of standby the other day. I have SigmaTel C-Major audio, and when I go into device manager it says it's working fine. My volume control is still there as well. I even downloaded an updated driver for it (version 6.14.1.4200) , but nothing changed. My laptop is the Japanese version of the Panasonic Toughbook; a Let's Note W4 with English XP installed. If there's any more information needed just let me know. Thanks!
Actually I thought of that just yesterday, but I apparently thought of it too late because it looks like it only saves up to three days or so before. So I think it lost the save point from before it started. I also wasn't using my laptop a whole lot then, so I figured I'd fix it later, lol. Not smart of me I guess.
Okay, after messing with it a little more I found out that at some point I actually did fix the sound, but only when it's through headphones or a speaker plugged in. It looks like it's the laptop speakers themselves that were the problem. Is that something fixable in a laptop?
check audio settings in control panel to see what speaker selection is selected as in internal or external.
