My question: Is there, or what is it, that I need to play my movie (dvd or divx) on my laptop to be displayed on my T.V.

I'm hoping there is something USB that I can plug my LT into and back out to my T.V.

    Thanks

Your laptop would have to have a video out graphics card. Check your owners manual or the web site of the manufacture.

Good. Then run a cable from the Video out and from your sound card to the TV. Should play fine.

Your welcome. We all need to learn at one time or another. I'm still learning lots of stuff!

What if I have a LT that does NOT have a video out? My sons has only the monitor plug in the back.

Is there an adapter that goes from that to RCA?

    Thanks

Not that I know of. It's a different type of signal.
