I am having a look at a philips freevents laptop that had a original problem with its battery. We bought a battery (compatable)off a famous website, the ouput voltage etc was the same ,charging was the same.Unfortunately we now get no charging lights and to top this all of now the touchpad has stopped working completely, and i have no synaptics pointing device icon now. I dont know if this problem is related to the power problem. If i need to turn off/on this laptop sometimes i get a beeping noise when it tries to boot up and will not boot. To boot the PC I have to remove the battery and plug it back in and reboot again. After this is works. The program is Vista and is not recognising the touchpad,i have been to control panel -mouse and tried settings in here, but it doesnt see the device. Any help appreciated. I can use a usb mouse no porblems.
Does the touchpad work with the battery removed? If so, the generic battery that you got does not have the correct circuitry inside (there is more to a laptop battery than the batteries).
No the keyboard still will not work with the battery removed. This afternoon i have been restarting the laptop on/off with the battery removed and it worked no problems.I turned off the laptop went out for an hour(battery removed),and when booting up i got a black screen and the dreaded "beep beep" noise again. This is strange but it could also be related to the battery being removed. Once the PC on (you can get it to boot by removing battery then putting it back in),you can plug charger in and it will give you a charge icon now as i am using a Trust universal charger. I still think i have two problem, battery and touchpad. Was wondering if this"beep noise",is telling me of a boot up fail or power fail.????? Help appreciated.
