Had my HP laptop for about a year. It came loaded with XP, but also with a free upgrade (?) to Vista. I've been tempted several times to do the upgrade (again - ?) but since I occasionally back-up a DVD on the laptop, and download TV show torrents, wondering if the DRM stuff in Vista will get in the way. Everything running fine on XP, but the idea of a shiny new operating system, with more bells and whistles is again tempting me. Always use the "Rip it for Me" package with DVD Decrypter, Shrink, etc. and wonder if these will work in Vista? Watching self-recorded TV OK using Windows Media Player in Vista? Thanks! DS
In my opinion it depends on your version of Xp and Vista. I do know that Vista uses more memory then Xp. I do not think that you should have a problem with those programs but not 100% sure cause i never used them before. I use a different software on Vista and do not have any problems with the DRM. I hope this helps.
As long as your system has enough memory and is fast enough, there should be no problem at all with installing Vista and having everything work correctly. I do advise you to backup your system just in case things don't work or you just happen to not like vista.
