Ok, so I have a 7Gb dvd that I want to convert to a dvd5 4.4mb single dvd disc to play on my pioneer dv-300 dvd player. Re-author the movie, backup Selected just main movie, 5.1 & 2ch audio, no directors cut or extras. Start & end frame cut the junk in the beginning and the ending credits, got the compression ratio at 97.1%, (2.9% compression). took only about 30min to produce a new VIDEO_TS folder. Burned with imageburn and plays fine, until the last chapter where it pauses for a few seconds, then plays, then pauses, plays over and over for that remaining chapter. 1) limit target size to 4300 Mb 2) burn at no more than 1/2 of rated speed of disc 3) use only good media as Taiyo Yudens 4) if using +r discs, booktype if possible to dvd-rom
