So whats not correct about the info. I would have thought it was more than obvious why I referred to it. Presumably the PS3 forum is where people list info available.
The media reaction to Sony's E3 conference was in a word: NEGATIVE. But is this enough to derail Sony's hype machine? Maybe not. http://www.media-assault.com/?p=19 http://www.cdfreaks.com/news/13413 http://www.firingsquad.com/features/playstation_3_failure/ http://www.games.net/features/109274.shtml http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/media/?id=12679 ... and so on.
the power of bloggers... I for one would not be surprised if Sony used the price points as a way to lower demand at launch. Only the truly rich or completely hardcore fans are going to buy it for $500/$600 at launch. It is launching around the holidays. Think how many people bought ridiculous 360 bundles or 360s off eBay just to have one? Not saying this won't happen with the PS3 either, but the reluctance of the widespread gamer community will decrease the chances more. After the holiday season, they can easily drop the price once their production increases. Sony is taking a big financial hit from the sale of each PS3 at these price points, so why lose even more money to picky people when they can get the people who love Sony or who don't think money is an issue. Sony in general has never been a cheap brand. They have released cheaper products into the mass market recently to appear to the general population, but they have also always had their higher end products. They believe the PS3 is a higher end product. remenber the good days when the internet used to be a reliable source for news that were endeed true. i said it once and i will say it again ,so far everything is looking wonderfull for sony and playsation.
That is a very interesting point mudearies. Sony know they are getting so much bad press at the moment. Maybe after release February-May they'll drop prices $100 off the consoles (perhaps original?) asking price. This would DEFINITELY get Sony control over the market once again and the PS3 will sell in the millions.
thats for sure, but do you think sony can actually do that, i mean, they would be at a major, major loss.
If sony drops the price ne more they will be killing themselves .They are already losing 200dollars per console and have to seel 8gms minimum to make their money back...any more will be suicide
dont rule out the fact that the ps2 is still in production and selling. they are still currently making new games for the ps2. someone said wait till 2008 for the comparissons to start heating up as far as what sytem is better?, who has better games?. if thats the case, consumers and sony still have another year and a half to go before jumping ship. im sure some of sonys biggiest blockbusters will have been released by then. Please name me one exclussive game on the 360 right NOW that would make anyone want to rush to the store and buy it. The first game that comes to my mind as far as a console seller would be something like Gears of War, BUT that is a mature rated game, and im sure its safe to say Halo will be the same way. so im not soo sure parents are going to be flocking to the store for either the ps3 or 360, the ps2 or wii would be a better fit for younger audiences. there hasnt been one thing microsoft has done to threaten sony's hold on the market. so to say sony cant afford a price drop is for the most part true, but tell me something anyone has done to put them in a situation where they would almost have to.
rofl check out this video of someone made summing up sonys e3 press conference in 1 minute http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJElsNaC6yQ&search=sony conference im not trying to knock their e3 conference completely but this was rather amusing Anyway i think they are pretty much already in the situation where they would have to drop prices, especially if 360 drops price right at ps3 launch and the Wii comes out with even lower prices. Sure the first adopters of ps3 wont care bout the price but soon after the next consumers will
Good post.Their showing at e3 was rather dull and drab.Nothing new as far as graphics, too many sequels,a couple of good NEW games(heavenly sword, resistance:fall of man),lies coming to the surface on what they have taken out of the ps3 since last yrs e3.Your supposed to be adding features or accesories to make people want your console more not taking things away to make them want less.ps3 is just a hype machine, offers nothing that u cant or would want that the 360 offers.Nintendo had a pretty solid showing, their controller puts sonys too shame and makes the ps3 controller look like a half -a$$ job. They used none of their own ideas in the control to be innovative.it even has the 1-4 thing that the 360 controller has so u know which control u r,the media guide button, even made the L2 &R2 buttons more like those of the 360.And as well did a crappy job of what nintendo did so well with motion sensing and all.
"Please name me one exclussive game on the 360 right NOW that would make anyone want to rush to the store and buy it." umm, well your kinda right there but i would say if i had to choose one it woud be oblivion, b/c noy only does that games look fantastic for an rpg, but it hooks you in like the first 1 hr and that game probably goes on for about 700 hours or something. i mean if a game can convert a a fps gamer to play an rpg then it has to be good right. i am also looking forward to seeing how assasins creed wil work, b/c apparantly that trailer was not only what the game will look like but will also play fluid like that due to some sort of new engine.
rabbity ... its sorta ironic you mentioned oblivion because i actually have it for the pc. it is by far one of the best looking games i have played, not to mention the several mini games within it make it fun, but again for me Personally im looking for "that game" or few games that are exclussives to take things to the next level. im not 100% but i have not seen anything about gears of war coming to pc(atleast yet), to me that could give people something to ponder before buying a new console because i think it lookds pretty damn good to say the least
