I happen to be out in swords (Airside retail park) & went into Harvey Norman to have a look at their only model on show. The LG 3DTV 47inch .they were using the cheaper type 3D passive polarised glasses. The affect of the 3D was very impressive still. costing over €2,000 mark for it. have to wait & see the other models to come on stream like samsung/sony/panasonic with their
active 3D shutter type glasses , which is said to be better over all. I myself Won't be buying any 3DTVs set for a long time yet ,Only bought a 40inch led slimline Samsung last september. This set has to do me for a long time. as far as i know is
no other shops here in dublin have a 3DTV to look at yet, so if u are out that way in Swords drop in to harvey Norman ok. that all for now.

seems the lg 47 inch is the first on the market.i guess canon the best thing you can do is say you post on an important forum, and as such you should get a free trial so you can compare it versus your led tv. i'll back up your argument

wishing & hoping on that ,like i have said before on this thread there will be 3 gen.types to come out. 1st out now the 2nd in 2014 & the 3rd in 2017. now that if the 3DTVs does not fall out of favour in the market place by then. i hear in the grapvine that some of the big people are trying to put a objection to the next runs of 3DTVs to hits the market place, soon Don't ask me why ,i just don't know, what their problem is. i know if the people want these type TVs
the market has to provide them . wait & see what will happen with this matter .?
    ok= fintannl.

as to the above thread ,My opinion is on the matter of 3DTVs,i think the TVs Manufacturers & TVs Suppliers + Broadcasting companys did not want 3D to come to the TV Market , till at lease 2015 or so. TVs manufacturers & TVs sellers have a ton of brand new TVs not sold yet & now have to sell them at a loss. But who was the culpit architect of this , i say it was SKY.Who last year have said that it would bring a true 3D channel on line by mid- 2010 when the rest of the
broadcasting companys are not ready for this type of 3D broadcast. take a look at hd channels in the uk not much on the free to air, a few. But who has the most (SKY)they say they will have over 200 hd channels by the end of this year. But here in Ireland still no hd channel yet, so now 3DTVs to come on the market when TVs broadcasting stations are in money
revenue problem .The core problem is it will cost a hell of a lot money for TVs broadcasters companys to install 3D in their network, (NO Problem to SKY)Sky is pushing the market into 3D to fast at this time,in which the money problems with broadcasters across Europe are very bad to move up to 3DTV.i say also cinemas in the uk & ireland are not to happy 2 on this as 3D was pulling in the punters to go & see a 3D Movie ,i think it should have stay in the cinemas for a lease another 3 to 5 years. and let us wait for a consumers std.in 3rd gen/laser projection 3DTVs.There have been a lot of complaints from broadcaster on this matter & on the health of these style of TVs will have on aduld & kids population with their eyes over long used of looking at 3DTV.a consultans. says it will give people a problem in near future.
    My Opinion on this ok.

To me, then Sky is the Innovator, yet again, same as they were with HD, they see a market, push the technology, ya cant fault innovation,Other broadcasters dont have the money nor inclanation to drive into such a market at this stage, this is where Sky get a foot hold on the market

Dont see how cinemas will be effected, In fact, the DVD / Blu Ray market will be the benefactors - which in turn will push studios to release more 3D movies, which will feed back into the cinema coffers, (role on 3D porn he he he )

3D TV will never take off in the home, 3D is a nice little touch for soccer or movies, now and then, type of things, not prolonged watching, who the hell wants to see Ken Barlow sipping his pint in 3D or Phil Mitchell getting things sorted in 3D, who wants to sit in their houses looking like the Proclaimers? For me, its a fad, a nice fad, an expensive fad, which will enhance certain events, but for the life of me, cant see it happening or taking off. Just my tuppence on it,

True in what u say MICKAH ,yes the blueray market will make a lot of money out of it,i was talking to someone in the industry seller market on this subject & they were saying that it won't last if these high up people got anything to do with it in the long run. i think they don't want this type of stuff comming on the market & yes i agree with u that Sky is pushing the market forward in HD & 3D market techologly & SKY is every where on both side of the world
The TV- Corportate broadcaster in the union want to hold back this 3DTVs products for a while at lease. But manufacturers of TVs will have to keep up development in 3D ,Now that it in the consumers market, even if they did not want to or to be left behind. Have u seen any 3DTV at all
i was very impressed with the LGTV the other day. i would love to have one because i like to keep up with new consumer market, but as u have said it might not last very long it just a fab for now & i will hold onto my Samsung for now. & we will have to wait & see what happen in the market. ok MICKAH

canon. with a 1080p tv the quality of hd is somewhat of an improvement but not huge. unless you are an avid fan of total visual quality you will live with sd on a good tv. hd is nice, 3d is nicer, but as mentioned before 3d glasses will be a question mark to this whole industry. i've watched many scifi movies but i truly hope that families will never feel the need to move in this direction. you will see the trend to headphones and if you go to a combined glasses and headphone solution, where is the interaction between people left

YES ? that will be the point ,the glasses if the 3D Kick of fully & TV Broadcaster does go with it ,there will be more programs like live football/live shows/cartoons/& movie as well to be made in 3D. there will be a bigger resolution of 2,050lines to come out maybe in 2014 & 4,000 lines resolution by 2017 or 2018 in HD That would be the better time for 3DTVs. as for now the cinemas & bluerays for the new true 3Ds
they may come up with a better type of product to look at 3DTVs ,but for now we have to go with the glasses that are out now on the market.ok fintannl

& Thanks for the input lads
& i say good night to u all

thanks fintannl, but if the others reading the thread still want to buy a 3DTV. I see in the Sunday paper > Harvey Norman (Ireland) is taking orders for May delivery from many of the major brands >Sony- Panasonic-LG -
Samsung-Philips. Prices will start from 999 euros and go up to the big Panels at 4,999 euros with screen sizes up to 60inc. Of course all shops should have them by i say the start of May or so, likes of Power city/ Currys. These 3Ds sets will have the latetest/backlight LED-Low power consumption as well, for better contrast & picture realistic 3D definition. with active 3D shutter glasses should come free with the set.Maybe not all models just keep in mind when bying a TV set.OK. THAT ALL i have to say on the Discussion on 3DTVs,For now.
