    Hello.

I have a dream: my own tv show. On DVD that can be uploaded, put into cable access, whatever.

I own almost no equipment: an old laptop, etc.

I must stick to a very low budget.

This is a challenge for all of you experts out there in cyberland:

Tell me what I need to do to get this show on the road.

Then I will have you as a guest on my very own show! You could be the next Dr. Phil!

    Oprah, eat my dust! :D

lets start off slow i suggest you start buy creating a youtube account
    http://www.youtube.com/
watch a few of the channels, drama, documentary, comedy
once you get the jist of how the site works you should start uploading your video there ($hint% tags are important)

then get a camcorder, shop around here
    http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sony...71455/catOid/-13063/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

get some video editing software,i'll other people with more experience suggest this(if you have a mac imove seems simplest)

your computer should have at least 512mb of ram
    a pentuim 3/4
    windows xp sp2
a video card that support direct x9.0 (this is just a measurement scale i use to see if you have a card capably of playing your vids at a high resolutions)

right click my computer and select properties to view computer specs
tell us what you do have?

    good luck

So the kind of camcorder I would need would be the kind that uses tape, or a digital?

i would suggest digital, NOT THE KIND THE BURNS TO DVD ON RECORD

this is the best place to be for camcorders

i suggest you get good microphone equipment to improve the quality of vocie(s) recorded,

if you have any more questions or would like me to expand on anything just post back;)

    Thank you, triplite.

Once I get a camcorder, digital as you say, this is what I envision doing so please correct the parts where my ideas are wrong:

Set it up on a tripod and start it running, aimed at a spot where two people can sit in a comfortable arrangement for conversation.

Talk with my guest and try to remember to look at the camera and pick up objects or pictures to show as we talk. (I will be interviewing artists, mostly).

Now I know that by itself this will produce a very boring show because there will be no changes in camera angle or close-ups, so if I can do it, I would like to have several cameras set up, so that I will be able to edit them between close-ups and distance shots of the two of us talking.

How hard will this be to produce and edit? What steps would I have to take to combine image-flow from both cameras into one DVD?

    (edit-add: I did not make the word f l o w into a link )
