    anybody heard of legacy media, got it free from newegg with my burner. I get a quality score of 95 with nero speed test. Just as good as my Sony [MIJ] DVD's..OR is this the kind of media that will decrease in quality over time?

    Could but it is made but some good manufacturers(MCC, TY, Sony) and some very bad ones(princo, optodisc)!! Depends on the luck of the draw! Run one thru nero toolkit>info tool and post back the manufacturer id - then we'll know!

    Well never heard of that manufacturer - so just my 2 cents I won't keep anything you want to last on them. For good quality, consistency and longevity use Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. They've never let me down! Here's a review on them though last comment was 10/2005 - users rated good but w/ few comments:

    When I got my first burner I use to always buy the Legacy DVD-R's I had no problems with the GSC media code but the last time I order them from newegg. I got fake TY's and they skipped on every dvd player except my dvd burner. So I sent them back to the company and they replaced it with more GSC003. But I'll never order them again Its too hard to tell what media code you'll get.

    looks like binkie handled this one VERY nicely, nice job girl~ :)

    @buckfush

    that is EXACTLY the reason why i don't personally buy the "lesser known" media brands~ you just never know what ur gonna get...man, FAKE TYS..i can personally attest to the crappy quality of those, i have some myself~ but it wasn't under the Legacy brand...but i'll bet the quality of them are on par with yours...hehe

    docTY~

    i take it you mean Office Depot or even Office Max? i'm just messing with ya, when you said office space, i immediately thought of the movie and remembered how funny it was~ you should give the guys at Office Max/Office Depot your "O"-Face~ :)

    why are they garbage? they're working better than anything else I have, and I just got a 100 pack of the quality stuff online. It's skipping too.

    They started to skip after awhile, if they work for you continue to use them. I switched over to verbatims and Taiyo Yudens and have not looked back.

    I agree w/ berger103.
    You may have some other things going on. Players can be picky w/ media.
    Burn speed, up to date firmware, media, and your player all play a factor in compatible and playback issues. (wow to many play's)

    The brands berger103 mentioned I have burned many of these. Playback issues in 99.9% of many players is zilch.

    berger103- as the others ( afterdawn .com) members have said the best reason to buy quality media (Taiyo Yuden - Verbatim - Ritek / Maxell /Japanese ect ! is consistancy ! The lesser known brands ! well you might be lucky and get some that was made by a quality company with one batch then get total Crapola ! the next ! With the quality Brands of media Consistancy is that they tend to be consistantly good where as with the off barnd stuff if they are consistant in anyway then they are usually consistantly bad ! why buy drek media when you can get Verbatims or Taiyo Yudens for
    $.30 to .50 cents ea. or there abouts ! iwould take binkie7's advice use them for non critical projects & ex[eriments only & not commit Anything to them that you would like to keep long term ! Good luck & happy Burning !
