Someone recently told me that if you download over 40GB a month, you get flagged by your ISP and they look into what you're downloading... Is this anywhere near the truth or is it just a blatent rumor? any advice would be much appreciated ta
clarify where your downloading from, Freeware/ shareware = free torrents = bad (aka illegal) p2p = mostly illegal
okay well i think NZB's is a newsgroup.. so that website isn't illegal However that doesn't mean the content your downloading is legal. Some of the material on the website your downloading could be used without the consent of the owner so on and so for...to put all questions to rest is simply if you life in the U.S (which I do) it seems like nothing is legal any more. So just be careful on what you do, I have been around the block if you know what I mean and haven't been contacted yet, but hey there's a time for every one
How do you mean? I mean i understand what is legal and what isnt, and i live in the UK, i just need to know if its possible for your ISP to look into exactly what your downloading.
Jeimuzu9, it sounds like that "somebody" who told you about 40 GB a month is getting confused between download caps and unacceptable use. UK ISPs in general do NOT look at what you are downloading. They do not want to, and it would take a change in the law which may or may not happen. I have about 2 to 3 GB a day going through my connection. That is about 3 hours of TVE 24 Horas streaming TV which I watch on my TV via a streaming box. That is quite legal but even if i was downloading everything in alt.binaries.warez I do not believe anything would happen.
