Let the Right One In/general error

    I keep getting this message when the burn process begins. I used the the newest version of DVDFab and used Shrink. I used Memorex DVD+R discs

    try using ty or verbatuim disks as memorex are crap. post edited.

    You need to update Nero. Or use ImgBurn with Shrink.
    You might need to clear "CDRALW2K.SYS", if you stay with Nero.

    Update your Firmware to 3.07. And do not forget to set booktype for +R media.

    Way too much going on at the same time here. Keep as much memory free as possible. Don't multitask. Shut down any programs running at the same time, don't surf the net, etc.

    Use better media, and slow your burn speed down to 8x or 10x.

    I tried updating the firmware, using different media, closing other things and it worked for awhile but I got these two errors:

    I also tried Shrink & img burn but I kept getting a power calibration error message when the burning process came up.

    There are a few things going on here.
    You have an old drive with old firmware that most likely does not work well with today's media.
    Get your hands on some 8x media and burn at 6x.
    Don't burn so close to the edge.
    May just be time for a new burner.

    also close off some background running programs to free up some more ram or install more ram.

    The goal is to keep as much memory free as possible during the burn process. Turn off anything running in the background to free some memory up.

    I'm still having the same issues with burning. I'm leaning towards getting a new drive. Any recommendations as to a model/brand that won't break the bank?

    Nothing wrong with the 35xx series that a good liggy firmware won't solve... along with a clean. My 3550 has done over 10,000 burns.. but it doesn't like cheap crappy 16x media.
