I have an LG 4160 on an WinXP system. I have made several DVD's of home videos 3-4 months ago but lately I cannot get a DVD to burn anymore. I've updated the firmware to the latest. I've switched the drive to be the master on the secondary IDE. I've been using Copy to DVD but whenever it gets to the point where it should being to write the DVD it keeps prompting for me to insert blank media. I'm using the same DVDs I had on the first burns I did 3-4 months ago. I have no problem reading CDs or DVDs. I can even burn a CDRW in this drive. I just cannot burn any DVDs. I've checked that it is in DMA mode. And I have downloaded and installed ASPI from the Adaptec website.

What else can I try to get this thing to work. In the past I've used 1 Click DVD copy but that doesn't work either. I've tried Nero without any luck either.

    Please help me.

try different media. Usually that's the reason you get problems like this.

When I first bought the DVD writer I bought 50 DVDs. I've only used a few of them. It's not like I'm switching to a different brand or type of media. They are the exact same discs I used before, even out of the same package.

It's very common to find discs from multiple manufacturers in a store-bought spindle.

There's a program called DVD Identifier (Google it) that will tell you the real manufacturer of the disc. Memorex doesn't make Memorex discs, they just buy them from whoever and put their label on them. Many other companies do this too.
