I recently bought some dvd movies, tried to play in lg gsa 4167 dvd burner, and 3 will not be recognized. The error message I get is Please insert disk in drive. And on one it states: drive does not recognize format.
I have played many movies on this drive, but these 3 will not play. Is there something I can do to allow my drive to recognize these dvds? Thank-You
    Ray

I have 4 GSA-4167 drives & they will read anything I put in them.
Post what movies the drive won't read so I may be able to assist you. It could be dirty discs, scratced, OR possibly a region code issue. If the discs are clean and unscratced, download AnyDVD. You can use it FREE for 21 days. This will make those discs region free when enabled.

@Altercuno........ that's funny, I have a Philips and it burned over a 1000 disks without a problem...... and I bought a BenQ drive, too and it's burned almost a 1000 already! I love my drives.... sorry the Philips didn't work for you.

Philips doesn't seem to have the quality it used to have - or is it just here in the UK? Looks like I'm on my own with LG...

well, to be honest with you ..... my Philips 8631 is an OEM BenQ! LOL and when I first joined AfterDawn many members have had problems with this drive.... I never did.... there was a defect in it before March, 2005! or so I was told..... I bought my computer in the end of April and have had many successful burns ..... the coasters I had were before I joined AfterDawn and learned that starting out with good media makes all the difference in the world! since then I have had a great run of 99.9% of successful burns without problems! And all my burns still work today..... even the ones before I joined AfterDawn! I know.... I checked them out! LOL

Your right about the media... most probs seem to come from cheap discs, but when stores like PC World heavily promote Imation - which I started with - people buy in good faith.

I'll be glad when all storage becomes removable hard drive and we get away from discs altogether.

I've always fancied a BenQ burner but you've got me worried now...
