    I have used...

    e3works DVD-R 4x: Burnt 2x=Works* Can't get 4x
    Memorex DVD-R 4x: Burnt 4x=Works
    Memorex DVD+R 4x: Burnt 4x=Works
    Maxell DVD-R 2x: Burnt 2x=Works
    VerbatimDVD-R 2x: Burnt 2x=Works

*Had some coasters of e3s but otherwise they are ok (skipped sometimes/makes noise in PS2)

I have used the Princo Whitetops with the princo in the centre, so far they are the only ones I have found in germany to use 4x speed properly. I have tried Yakumo, sky and skk they say 4x but alas they only work 2x.

    G'Day,

I just recommended the shintaro disks over the ritek because in my samsung dvd player (DVD-M205) they work great but the ritek didnt work as good as the shintaro. My DVD Player is pritty old (4 years old) so i guess that wouldnt help but i refuse to part with it. But also its said that with shintaro disks there are an estimated 3 disks out of every 100 that are duds and with ritek there are 4 Disks out of every 100 that are duds. Some handy info.

Bottom line, not one fault yet with the shintaro disk. and the LG GSA-4040B is working great with the A302 Firmware.

    Cheers

Well I bought this drive from futureshop for 120 after rebates and bought 3 maxell dvd+rw, 10 pine dvd-r 4x and 10 dvd+r 4x. Before updating the firmware, the dvd+r's burned at 4x noprob and the dvd-r burned at 2x only. so i updated the firmware to the newest update and pine dvd-r still burns at 2x. i havent burned to the dvd+r after the update but i hope it is still goin at 4x. the dvd+rw from maxell seemed to burn at 2.4x and the included dvd-ram burns at different speeds. It will start off slow then it will speed up after a few seconds so cant complain against maxell rewritable media, however keep in mind that all pine dvd-r will ONLY burn at 2x on this drive.

The only other cheap media at a retail store here in scarborough is bestbuy. they have dynex 4x 25 for 30bux after rebates. anyone tried those? and finally as for memorex, I will try a 5 pack of dvd-r's to try them out but a friend got those and they only went at 2x but he didnt update the firmware. ill ask him to update then ill get back to all u guys. damn we really need a master list of dvd types that work.

What is the best program to verify a written CD or DVD .. I've seen people putting screenshots (on reviews of blank media) from Nero ... how do you use this tool to check the graph/curve?

    SEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that I got your attention here is my list of all media discussed in this thread. LOL sorry, couldn't help myself.

All comments are welcome and if I missed something or copied somethign down wrong let me know. I would appreciate help in hosting this file as it runs off my own ftp and it will be slow if many download off it at once.

I have the LG-GSA-0400B drive and I tried Pine 4x
DVD-R, they work but only at 2x speed. But mind you I haven't upgraded my firmware yet. Perhaps I should.

I bought from Futureshop Mitsumi DVD+RW at $50 for the 25-disc bundle. They burned flawlessly with my GSA-4040b at 2.4x

    I have the A302 firmware.

    thanks

    spawn2k2 -

Thanks for the list - good job. Let me confirm the issue with e3works - the spindled DVD-R ones burn at 4x with A302 - but the ones in 10 packs/jewel cases only burn at 2x with A302.

Also - Memorex DVD-R does burn at 4x with A302 and I've had no problems with any of them.

Thanks for the list - its handy to have when purchasing DVD media for this fine burner.

In the media list, should the Ritek's be listed as DVD-R opposed to DVD+R ?

Also, perhaps a similar list for software should be created.

    Later

P.S. spawn2k2 - Great job on the initial list.

My Princo disks come on a spindle of 25 and have a clear 'skinny' disk with a label stating "A Grade printable' in red print.

    The disk ID is DVD-R:pRINCO

I also have found that MAXmax disks also burn at 4x. Disk ID DVD-R:GSC001

BTW I live in Australia (Sydney)

I pay A$35 for 25 disks, can I get better pricing anywhere in Sydney

Updated list. It is now alphabetical, which it should have been in the beginning. Ah well

@Manik What do you mean a software list?

    Hey,

What I meant was which software is good for burning, ie DVDshrink, CloneDVD, AnyDVD,Nero, Xcopy...

I'm using DVD Shrink 3.13 (updated yesterday) and using Nero 6.3x to burn. Although dvd shrink will automate the rip and burn using nero in the background. Can't get any better.

Just bought 50 princo 4x dvd-rs from blankmedia.ca, I read around the forums there and here that they are pretty good. Has anyone bought these Princos recently? and are they good? (Speed, quality, durability and etc...)
