LG has it's fans but I'd rather take a beating than buy an LG :)

I took a close look at this drive like yourself but did not get lots of posotive feed back.In the end i went for the NEC 2510 which was cheaper. Many people told me i could not go wrong with a NEC so i thought i would give it a go and iam not dissapointed with what i got. This is my third dvd writer the first was a pioneer and the second was a Lite-on which i still use along side the NEC.The worst out of the 3 was the pioneer A04 which was actually much more exspensive due to the prices around at the time.Still it did not live up to my exspectations so it had to go.

Just one other thing i have just noticed by your signiture that you have a NEC2500.Try this link and have a read http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php.I bleive you will find firmware for your current drive to make it a duel layer drive if you wish to save some money.
