Hey Just hopeing to get opinions from all of you...I just picked up the LG GSA-4120B last night on sale for $129 CDN, not a bad deal. Just wondering what everyone recommends, should I go to the A104 or the NOAD firmware update? I have been searching around the find mixed comments about both. Thanks a lot
Can anyone help me decide guy's? Buy drive came with A104 on it but reading through it seems that more people like NOAD, am I correct in assuming this?
Hi there! I too have this drive and it has the A04 Firmware. I have not tried the NOAD firmware. What I can tell you is unbelievably the A04 still has no 'Book Type' enable function (The part of data written to DVD+R that tells equipment that the disc is like a standard DVD rather than a DVD+R) Beleive me I have tested many media and alot of +R media will fail to be recognized on alot of equipment (at least in my tests) I can't find any results about the NOAD firmware, weather it works or not. But for the time being, I am staying with DVD-R as it is book typed DVD-ROM automatically.

They also indicate that there is a performance improvement with this upgrade. I just want to know if LG will release a firmware upgrade to provide DVD-R dual layer support

I'm still using the new official LG A104 FW, DVD-ROM Booktype seems to be set for DVD+R (Tested with DvdinfoPro) but I am having problems getting +R discs read on most of my home gear..Come On LG! We want proper Bitsetting on an official firmware! Who wants to buy very expensive DL media only to find it won't work because of the DVD-ROM versus DL+R Bitsetting? On the other hand DVD-R works for me 100% on old and new. Now only if there was DVD-DL!
