    Hi there,

Personnally, I suggest NOT burning at 16x period.

For Video DVD, most people suggest burning at 2x or 4x MAX for best results (Prevents skipping and freezing on playback).

As for data, I would not burn higher than 8x to make sure there's not CRC errors generate on the media, because of the fast burn.

Quality Media and SLOW burn get's the best results.

People are not patient and all want to burn at 16x :)

I prefer a slow 30 min burn at 2x and still have 100% results.

If you must burn fast, I suggest buying Taiyo Yuden media, or at least high quality (Made In Japan) media.

What firmware version do you have on your LG-4163B ?

New firmware (ver. A104) for only GSA-4163B(Internal 16X Super multi DVD Writer)

    Model:GSA-4163B
    Ver:A104
    Improvement Point
-. Improvement of recording quality for DVD media
-. Improvement of the readability for DVD-ROM, R/RW & RAM
-. Improvement of DVD+RW rewriting ability

Maybe latest firmware will support new 16x media or let a good quality 8x be burned at 12x and 16x.
