hi, im just new w/this dvd-rw thing. i bought n install a LG GSA-4166B on my computer...Problem>> i tried it on a CDR and found no problem in it but when i try to burn some data on DVD it freeze aroung 4%,8% or something likethat. im using nero 6.? something(not sure) THanks!!! oh yeah.. ive met all the system req. except for the 128mb video memory..i have 64mb is that a big deal??? thanks again
If you are talking about RAM then it is recommended to have a minimum of 512 megs, anything less can result in failed burns, Cheers.
no im talking about the memory of the videocard. i already have 512mb ram..like i said b4 i have met the minimum sys. req. except only the videocard... THankS!! oh onother thing againg the LG GSA-4166B is set as slave drive my master drive is GCE-8483B.. could this be a problem too??? thanks again.. HELP!!!!
You mainly need a decent graphics card for viewing the video output and for any games you may want to play. The graphics card deals with video output to your monitor and on some systems may effect capture. But with a 64MB card, it may not be loaded with options. For recording, all you need to worry about is having enough system resources to run the software and hardware for doing your backups. Just to give you something to think about, you can record sound without having a sound card. You have to have some graphics for the monitor to work, but you don't need to have a good graphics card to record what's in a source. You may not be able to fully enjoy what you record though, unless it's played on a better system. Just depends on what you're recording. Nothing is going to blow up, so how is the system working for you now? If you have onboard graphics, it won't be much trouble to add a card. Unless you're on a strict budget, you can get a decent card at the local Wal Mart or similar store that's better than what your system now has. I noticed a 128MB card for about $100. I bought a fairly recent 256MB with DDR3 RAM for about $250. So, getting a better card shouldn't break the bank.
just passing, have teleported thread to the Nero forum, and added my proverbial request for a logfile - if it's Nero 6, let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar. if it's Nero 7, let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\NeroHistory but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '5C80' or similar. either way you can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"
