ok I give up.. I've searched the whole of google to fix my problem and i just cant work it out. I get the apparent common "Buffer too Large" in Nero when I try and burn a DVDR the DVDRs I am using are the Smiley ones from bigpockets.co.uk which I have already been told aren't great but still they should work right...

So basically the first step seems to be to make sure DMA is enabled, which it isn't and I have read the guides to enable it and looked at the nice screenshots... but that is where my PC is different. I don't have the "advanced tab" it asks for so I can't set DMA I tried my server and that does have it but the drive isn't on that one :p so any ideas on that front would be great.

Secondly my firmware version is DL12 which is apparently not the newest version so I downloaded DL13 but the update won't work and gives me an error:

    Updating was failed. Please repeat that. (Error data = 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

Lastly I tried updating my VIA thingys with VIA_HyperionPro_V5.00A.0 which I read somewhere but that doesn't seem to have done alot.

Been waiting months to get a DVDRW now finally have one and it wont work :'( spent alot getting the drive, dvdrs and cases this month!

Thanks for any help I get the feeling this problem is beginning to be a bit of a bore at least mine is a little different..
