I hope that I’m posting this is the correct forum and I’ll try to make this as condensed as possible. I just got a new HP computer (Pavilion a1640n); it has a GSA-H30L LightScribe, DVD reader/writer. When I try to copy a DVD (the original in the internal LG drive) I get the dialog box that says, “The DVD is copy-protected, etc.” It did not do this on my old computer (2 Pioneer, 110 & 111), nor does it do it on my existing (was hooked to old computer and now new computer) external LG drive (under Iomega’s name). I’m using AnyDVD 6.0.8.0 and CloneDVD2 2.9.0.1 (both the most recent). Please help... I don’t understand why this is happening. Thanks very much.
first off ...... AnyDVD should be running when you put the DVD into the drive for reading........ check the task bar and notice the fox turn grey to red! When it's red then you know that AnyDVD took out the encryptions....... then use CloneDVD...... here is a guide for you: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/BACKUP WITH CLONEDVD&ANYDVD.pdf
Thanks for your reply. But... I know all that; I’ve been using these programs for over 6 months now. AnyDVD loads automatically at boot, remains in the task bar and is always red. However, it will not remove the encryptions from any DVD that I put in the new LG (LightScribe) internal drive. But... it works fine on the external LG drive. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled AnyDVD and CloneDVD; didn’t help.. same thing. I’ve tried various original DVDs.. same thing. I can’t figure it out.
soooooooo you have a legitimate AnyDVD and CloneDVD2....... then why don't you have Slysoft.com technical assistance? I'm sure if you have a legitimate version of AnyDVD & CloneDVD2 then you wouldn't have a problem!
Yes, I have legitimate AnyDVD and CloneDVD software. I took your advice and emailed Slysoft. I got a reply last Thursday (10/19) night asking what other CD/DVD software I had installed on my computer. They also stated that another “driver” may be blocking the LG Drive. I replied immediately... telling them that I have Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 (which I had on my old computer and never caused a problem) and some similar Sonic and HP software that came pre-installed on the new computer. I DO NOT have DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter (or similar software) installed. To date, I’ve not heard back from them even after replying to their email a second time. So, I’m back here again. Now... I understand “drivers” for hardware, but do not understand drivers for software. How do I find out, and identify, if other software’s driver is “blocking the LG Drive?”
Are you trying to copy direct from the internal to the external? This may cause your issue. Have you tried to rip the file to the HD using AnyDVDs ripper? Set up a folder for your movie on the HD and see if AnyDVD will rip it.
Thanks very much... ripping the movie directly from AnyDVD then copying it worked. And, yes, I was trying to copy direct from the internal to the external drive. I guess it just bothers me that AnyDVD doesn’t want to work with the new LG (LightScribe)internal drive. I can copy direct from the external to the internal drive just fine; but, not the other way around. In my old computer (motherboard died) I had 2 internal Pioneer drives 110D & 111D)and the LG external drive. I could copy direct between any of them; internal to internal, internal to external and reverse, etc. I guess it will remain a mystery.
Cool, glad you got it to work. I always rip to the HD first. I just seem to get fewer issues when I do it this way. Have a great day.
Thanks again for your help. If I may impose one more time... I finally got a response from SlySoft. They said, Excuse my ignorance... how do I do that? I know I saw DLA on my old computer... can’t for the life of me remember where.
