Need to finalize my decision on a new DVD Burner... Looking at LG-GSA H50N, LG-GSA H22N, LG-GSAH42N, Pioneer DVR-112D. All 18x w/dual-layer. Please advise of best choice. Thanks.
I would personally go for the Pioneer or the LG-GSAH42N. CDFreaks reviews various drives and it might be worth your time to browse some of them.
Well, look at the review for the LG- GSAH42N from CDfreaks: http://www.cdfreaks.com/reviews/LG-GSA-H42N-Super-Multi-DVD-Writer-Review Although they've acknowledged it as being a good internal burner, however, they did not recommend it. Also, see reviews of others as well. On the other end, see review of the LG-GSAH50N from CDfreaks as well: http://www.cdfreaks.com/reviews/LG-GSA-H50N-Super-Multi-DVD-Burner-Review They actually have a sentence in their conclusion that says: "We recommend it"
Hi ;-) One more for the Pioneer. On reviews, beware. #1 Not always truly independent. The LG 50* vs 42 is a good example. The 42 is a much better drive in terms of quality burns & does better with a wider range of media. #2 This is rare. But have seen drives review with beta f/w that has ended up nevr being released. #3 Some drives provided for review are not the same as those you buy over the counter. ( different grade components ) *The 50's series drives are fast & on the whole good. But burn quality is nowhere near that of the 42 & 62 models.
Great. And based on all, although the LG has a 48x CD-R capability, what would be a better choice between the LG-GSAH42 or the Pioneer DVR-112?
You'd never need to burn a CD that fast anyway.. I never burn mine above 32x for most data, and 16x for some things, such as games or live CDs (linux etc).
