so, here it is: a thread on college. what college did you go to? which one are you in? do you plan to go to a university when you graduate high school, and if so, which one? personally, i'm hoping to go to Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. they've got a great degree program in astronomy and in physics, and it's a lovely area.
Holy shit Aussie, I'm 15 years past that. I went to Sault College, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, CanaDUH.(I just love our government). I'm a Civil Technologist, working at Weyerhauser Canadian Operations. 3 PC's, 2 trucks, 2 children, 2 dogs, 1 house, 1 bird, 1 wife. The last one's the BOSS. Weycraze
I graduated from high school when I was 17, and started college at Michigan Technological University, when I was still 17. Bad mistake. I learned about wine, women, and song. I attended for 2 years, and decided that I wasn't ready. My sig. tells the rest of that portion of my life. The best thing that happened to me, while attending those 2 years was, I met the woman who is still my wife today. (35 years). After I got out of the Army, I went back to Michigan Tech., with a wife and my oldest son. I graduated 3 tough years later, with a degree in Civil Engineering. Those 3 years were the hardest and best years of my life. Without the support of my wife, I would have never made it.
I went to ITT Tech and got an associate degree in Electronics Engineering. Thinking about going for the bachelor's. Good school for the people who work full time but want to go to school full time. Classes were 3 days a week, 5 hours a day. Homework load wasn't too bad. I personally like the Tech schools because you don't have to take classes that have nothing to do with what you're majoring in. I checked out some universities and you have to take all kinds of religion and sociology courses to get a degree in electronics. Whatever you choose to do, do something. Otherwise it's nothing but work, sleep, work, sleep. Pretty boring if you ask me. Find out what you love to do and try and get a career doing that. Don't think about money, do what you love and you'll do good at it, the money will follow.
Auslander, Astronomy and physics would be very cool and really interesting, wish i done that... (it should be somthing we all should learn, dont you think?) but... very true squizzle, very true.. : )
thanks Auslander. I'm actually in the same boat as you. I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do for the rest of my life.
ok here it goes after high school i waited a trimester befroe enroling at DeVry University and went there year round for 3 years and got my BSEET ( Electronic Engineering Technology ) and graded Magna Cum Lade and what am i doin now u ask i work at FedEx driving a forklift cause i cant seem to get a job related to electronics lmao u would think so since i graded in the top 7% of my class oh well what are u goin to do that was almost 2 years ago and im still lookin
i see the guys at my job driving forklifts...seems like it can be quite fun when the boss isn't looking
Hmmmmm....after high school going to a community college Rapahannock. It isn't a big college, but I like it not bad at all.The classes are almost 3 hours long and I don't have a full load so not too shabby at all.I am trying to get into Electrical Engineering and Computer Programming. It is hard to get the classes for programming where I am at though,so am currently working on engineering.Life after high school is great I think, and to be honest I hated high school.
I hated high school too, but college is way different. It's a lot better. I took a computer programming class and hated it. It was just Visual Basic, wasn't too difficult, just uninteresting to me. If you can get an electronics engineering degree along with some programming stuff, that'd be awesome. Make sure you learn some ladder logic stuff too if you don't know any already.
lol i know alittle c++, ladder logic, vb, and how to program in excel, how ever none of this has helped me what u need to make it in electronic engineering is how to use autocadd and how to use plcs not just a little ladder logic but alot about plcs also it helps to be very knowledgeable of alen bradley plcs if u are anywhere near ohio
oh yeah if anyone has to do a senior project i still have the one we did its an automated paintball defense system i have stuff like motor controller code written in assembly and lots of other goodies lol and to add to list above i know alittle assembly but wasnt that enterained by it but its very good to know
well I only had one plc class for my associate degree in EE. C++ was in the bachelors program and I think more plc stuff is too.
