I am somewhat new to this. I use dvd shrink and dvd decryptor for my dvd backup. Awesome and quick programs. However I have just bought a lightscibe DVD burner but can not get the disc covers to burn on the disc. Format not supported or errors is all I get. Is there somewhere I can go to fix the problem or do I just give up? I thought you could burn the image to the disc that is why I bought this device was I wrong? HELP!
umm I Dunno Whut Your Question Really Was But i Got LightScribe And Mine Works Fine...(Do You GOt The Right Discs?) Yes You CAn Burn Your The Image To It!! Go To LightScribe.com or sumthin?? i dunno im not really the best for help tho
You need some kind of label program, or Nero also has the capacity to burn lightscribe disks. I have Express Labeler from Sonic that does mine. Do a google you should come up with some programs although they are not free. Didn't your burner come with a program? As was asked are you using lightscribe disks because those are the only ones that will work.
Ok I have figured out from another thread how to make it work but the burner is not seeing the disc. It keeps kicking the disc out of the drive. It is an LG with both =and - capibility. Any ideas?
The lightscribe discs are supposed to be compatible with different burners. I have both the Sure Thing label app ( http://www.surething.com/ST/default.asp ) that came with my HP burner and the Nero. You set up the label and use the label software to burn. Place the lightscribe disc in the burner upside down and burn. It's supposed to be that easy. The optical laser burns the image on the special coating of the lightscribe disc. There's a code on the lightscribe discs, so putting in a plain disc won't allow a lightscribe burn to the plain disc's label.
I was able to load all the software no problem. Nero. The drive shows that it is working correctly. But I will put a disc into the drive to burn and it will either eject the dise or shut off completly. I am going to exchange the drive and see what happens if it happens again I am thinking I may have a power issue. What do you think?
Is the drive recording to the DVD the way it's supposed to with a regular disc? With Nero you can save a Nero burn log and post that to the Nero discussion section. The log indicates burn errors due to a number of different causes if they occur.
hello all a little of topic, but whats the quality like of these light scribe burners?,i hear there a little unreliable,i guess in ways like the poster in this thread is mentioning cheers!!
No problem with reliability I've noticed. I don't use it for the lightscribe very much. The lightscribe discs are more expensive and only for special projects. It actually reads better than other drives I've owned.
@osokool Go here for some sw updates, don't know if it will help you but you can read about what is available for lightscribe. http://www.lightscribe.com/support/index.aspx?id=307
Reliability is somewhat dependant on what brand is your lscribe. For instance I have HP 640b dvd/rw dl. It only prints in greyscale so your covers are reflective gold but with a complex label image at best quality it takes me 32mins to produce a cd. Then I usually re-burn over the same image (improves quality!) so most likely 64mins. What I like? There's no ink or print whatsoever so they're way lots durable. Peace.
Due to the way the image is made, burning with a laser, the label isn't going to be anything like the photo reproduction of an inkjet.
