Lightscribe

    I bought a lightscribe dvd drive (from tigerdirect.ca) a while ago and on the box it says silent technology but its very noisey is there a way to make it shut up? the drive its from AOpen and i a windows xp thanks

    no there isn't some drives like Lite-On are very noisey it just the way there maded

    How noisy is it?
    Is it when burning or etching a lightscribe label on a disc? The etching might be noisy - the burning shouldn't be.

    I thought you had some LiteOn's - or just Plextor maybe?
    Mine LiteOn are very quite.

    Karen i have one Lite-On, new sata drive LH-20A1S but its not that noisy. both Plextors/Pioneers run very quite

    No sata drives here (yet :)) but my LiteOn's are very quiet, same with the Pioneer and LG.
    The only one that somewhat loud is the crappy burner in the laptop - matshita.
    I'm not thinking Kev96 should really be that loud at all.

    Karen the sata drives are the way to go there a little faster plus they run cooler

    Kev96, i don't think there is anything wrong with the drive there just noisy, you could exchange it from tiger direct www.newegg.com is also a great place to pickup parts
