hey guys a couple days ago i posted about my computer system screwing up and had to reinstall windows, this is a brand new computer i built and am having tons of problems with it. I had to reinstall windows and now that is working fine, now my internet is not working on it. I know its not the service cause that is what im using right now to type this. Whenever i connect this same internet to the new computer it says i have limited or no connection and i can not figure it out, i even reinstalled windows again and reinstalled all the driver and still nothing. Ive uninstalled the network adapter and reinstalled and nothing. I dont know what to do. Please help me, i hate my new computer haha. Mitch
i set up a static ip, and it takes away the message of limited to no connectivity and i recieve like 10 to 15 packets, but then no more. I try to bring up a webpage and it attempts to load for awhile then fails, compared to without it has 0 packets recieved and when i try a website nothing instantly. thanks for any help Mitch
whoops sorry for tripple post, by the way the static ip i set up is based on the ip's i am getting off this computer, and just plugging them into the new computer. Could i be doing something wrong thanks
wired, they both are, the one im typing on (old one) working fine, i unplug it and plug it into new one, nothing.
windows xp, yes i tried the repair option, it syas windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed : Renewing your IP adress... does that help at all?
sounds like the netcard is damaged. when i get that message i try different netcables to see if that resolves the problem. i've seen that message comeup a few times & found sometimes that the card was damaged. a customer's 2 computers had onboard netcards that showed ok but alway had that message. as i had to do a re-install of windows, that is when i found out that it was a hardware issue & not software. their cat\kitten chewed partly thru the router's power adapter cord sending a surge thru damaging the netcards. disabled the netcards & installed pci cards & the pc's got on the net.
thanks sleeping for the site... but nothing worked, now its not even saying low connectivity its just trying to renew ip, let it sit like that all night and after 8 hours still could not do it. Guess im going to run out and buy a network card and see if that works. Also ive noticed since this has happend my computer is running sluggish. even with fresh install of windows ill try to open windows media player and it will not respond, or the computer will not respond. Could this mess up with my hard drive caused damage to the mother board or some other component? and how would i know? Mitch
just to add now my sound isnt working either. it was working 2 days ago, cause i had installed crysis and was playing it and thought that the internet was down because of my provider, then the next day when it still didnt work i figured out it was my computer. but the sound was working then, and now it isnt. we have ahd a few thunder storms recently could that have hurt my mother board. I just bought this thing a week ago like i said and everything had been working fine up until my hard drive failed. How do i know if my mother board is working or not? Mitch
do a system restore to before you lost the sound to see if that solves that problem. right now i would get the board replaced under warranty as your netcard doesn't work even with a fresh install. don't mention the thunderstorm.
well looks like i solved one problem, i disconected the modem and reset it pulled the plug on it and removed the battery plugged her in and now im typing this message from my new computer. Now just the sound haha. If i would have just done that in the beginning the sound would still work. For somereason it is not installing the driver it has a yellow ! by it. i try to uninstall it but it wont allow me to. ANd i cant install the driver from the gigabyte disk... any ideas. thanks for the help so far guys Mitch
get a router to solve the modem problem because you'll still have that problem when switching between computers. can also do an ipconfig\release & ipconfig\renew at the run command before switching computers.
