hi i have a second laptop that did work fine but nowe it says limited or no conection or somthing like that i tried a few things from outher topics i do no that it says media diconected if that helps i just dont no how to set it up again iam using a modem and eathernet cable thank you
You may need to power cycle your cable modem, if you are just unplugging it from PC #1 into your 2nd laptop. This would hold particularly true if you have a connection on PC #1 and not the laptop. Unplug the power to your cable modem for about a minute, then plug it back in. Wait for all the lights to come on and then plug it into your laptop and power your laptop on. That should do it. It may also be possible that there is a corrupt winsock. There are a few utilities that will fix this out on the net. Do a search for "winsockfix" and run it. (It's a free utility.)
