    help!

i have a router with wireless and both the laptops are able to connect to the internet (one on cable and one wireless). but the desktop computer stopped getting a connection.

i ran the network diagnostic tool on IE 8 and it says:

error 12007 connecting to www.microsoft.com: The server name or address could not be resolved
(then it says the same thing for other MS websites)
    and then:
could not make an http connection
(then same for https and ftp)

it was working fine this morning and we didn't change anything that we know of.

we were using zone alarm free firewall but uninstalled it, and turned of XP firewall, but no change.

i don't find any virus or adware running avast or adaware.

    help!

    julia

Did you check the physical cabling? Are you able to access shared files on the network?

yes, the cables are fine. the computers aren't networked, they just each connect to the internet either by cable or wireless through the router.

Can you access the router config page from all the computers?
