linksys and online games

    I have found a problem with linksys wireless router and online gameing when I put the broadband feed straight into the computer I get hundreds of servers but when I connect through the linksys router with a cable (wireless is for the laptop) i only seem to get a few servers
    anyone have any ideas ?

    That's strange eh? It should be just the same...
    Let's first tuneup your connection to the router.
    If connecting to the router, your NetBIOS setting should be 'use NetBIOS setting from DHCP server'.
    If connecting directly to broadband, this is a security threat. You must select 'disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP'.
    Settings are found within advanced TCP/IP properties (WINS settings) for your NIC connection.
    Other than that, carefuly review each page from within the router setup. Upgrade the Firmware if req'd (unlikely if new Linksys wireless - but there might be an issue).
    Go to http://www.grc.com and test your security exposure.
    Confirm your router setup.
    When you get it sorted, you should not be restricted from any servers...
