Ok ladies and gentlemen, here is my issue and hope someone can shed some light.

I have a Linksys wrt330n router with the latest firmware which is 1.00.4 3/14/2008, anyways as soon as I start d/l from usenet at full 8mb down my wireless router looses connectivity. It seems as though it cannot handle heavy data traffic.

before any body ask's "Whats your ISP" this has nothing to do with it, reason i say that is...I switched to my old Linksys wrt54g and I dont have this issue. I paid good money for this wireless router so i want to keep using it.

Does anybody else have this issue with Linksys and heavy data traffic?

    Thanks all.

I am not too sure about this but the only thing that comes to mind is have you checked the router settings?? and in paticular the port forwarding area in the linksys router??

the router settings has stayed the same, I even reseted the settings and started over and over and over. this has started recently with new settings and old settings.

I dont need to port forward with usenet but I did that anyways...still no go.

Im assuming others have this issue but google says differently...hhmmm, im at a loss.

    Any other suggestions.

BTW, I did contact the support and all they said was to clone my mac address and use the newest firmware. UUhh...k, so mush for help support.

the only other thing i can think of is to re install usenet software and see if that makes any difference.

I use newsleecher and I have un-installeed and re-installed and went from several betas and then the final version 3.9 with both the wrt54g and wrt330n and this only happens with the wrt330n.

As a test I also used several other clients to confirm and they all did the same with the the wrt330n and not the wrt54g, so its not the clients.

This only happens when heavy traffic is in use.

    Any other suggestions.

My latest update and last since it seems this thread will die...but then again here's ta hoping.

I have re-flashed my wrt330n with the latest firmware (again) and disabled the wireless network, so now im just using the router. Well, this seems to be working flawlessly when downloading at full speeds but only as a router, the second I turn on the wireless network I get constant disconnects.

What I am assuming is...Linksys funked up the firmware as this didn't happen when I had the original Firmware 1.00.0, hhmmmm

Again, if anybody shed some light that would be great. maybe a third party firmware that I don't know about.

    Thanks.

the only other thing i can think of is to give a good reset like i did with my belkin router.

    1, take out power lead

2, hold reset button for about 10 secs and plug power lead back in

3, carry on holding reset for about 3-4 secs then let go and turn router off and on again!

    best of luck!

Thanks -wizzkiddo- But WOW...netgear firmware with Linksys hardware...hmmm, dont think so. Also i dont have issues with my ISP (unless I misunderstood the article and SKY routers).

you aint reading through right just copy the instructions thats on that page but instead of a netgear router think of it as a linksys router.

i didnt say mix a netgear firmware with linksys did i!

That whole thread is about netgear and sky. If you said "It doesn't matter what product you have" then it would have made more sense.

but since you summed it up with this then I will give it a go
