well i brought a Linksys WRT54G (its a version 6) about 3 days ago and i set it up and it has been working perfectly fine until suddenly last night connection dropped so i tried reconnecting it from start but its very weird now. when i connect it all 4 Ethernet ports are lit up and the internet led is lit up to and also the power led keeps on flashing but the cisco systems led dmz led and WLAN led wont light up and the computers that are connected to the router (they are connected by wire) cannot pick it up i have tried resetting my router nothing changed. i know my modem is working fine because right now i am using my old router to get internet but i really need this new router working i have no idea whats wrong can someone please help me out.

i kno something wrong because when its working properly the cisco systems led is light up the WLAN led is light up and only Ethernet ports 1 and 2 are lit up because they are the only ones in use oh and also the internet port is light up.

someone please help i cant return this router because i brought it off eBay and the seller told me its as good as new condition and works 100% perfectly and it did for me for about 3 days.. so i know my router cant just be broken there must be something els wrong.

    Hi,

there was a thread similar to this a few days ago here.

If you use the "search" facility you can sometimes find suggestions from previous posts to assist you. Sometimes its better than starting a new thread.

Let us know how you get on

Try power cycling it. Just take out the power cord for about a min and put it back in and see if it works.

Thats funny, because if you click on the first reply in the thread I linked to....

You will see that ddp provided a link to Linksys's website. And if you were to read the whole page, you will see a section / link regarding "Blinking Power or Diag LED on a Linksys Router" which fully explains the solution to your answer. And when you read this solution you will see it already knows you can't access the router config pages, because it tells you that your firmware is corrupt.

We can all help you, but you need to help yourself by reading information given with the upmost of detail.

Let us know how you get on.

Well the router has an "out-of-box" IP of 192.168.1.1 (I own one so I know). If you cannot ping to this IP then you have either changed the IP of the router via config before it went down, or the router cannot be fixed via this method.

Have you spoken to Linksys about this? Their technical support have been good with me in previous situations, and suggest that speaking to them would be the best next step for you to take.

Hi. Koifish, I had a similar problem and solved it with these steps. Seems to be a corruption in the NVRAM.

Try them and let us know if it worked.

    1. Disconnect the router from the network cables (not the power cable).
    2. Push reset button for 30 secs. (It is located in the rear side of the router).
    3. Without releasing the reset button, disconnect the power cord from the router and keep holding the reset button for another 30 secs.
    4. Replug the power cord.
    5. Still hold the reset button for another 30 secs.
    6. Release the reset button and give the router about 10 secs to resettle. The power led will flash intermittently.
    7. Disconnect the power cord for another 10 secs and the reconnect.

Give it a few seconds and all leds SHOULD light up and the router should work all right.

    Hope it works.
