Have a look in newsagents to magazines with freebie dvds - they usually have one or two distros on them.
which version, there are about 1,000,000, check this newer release of lycoris http://www.lycoris.org/download.php?op=viewdownload&cid=8
I am a Red hat fan. You can Ftp from there site or one of the mirrors. Go to www.redhat.com or go this site is really good: ftp://ftp.nrc.ca/pub/systems/linux/redhat/ftp.redhat.com/ NRC (National Research Council, a Canadian thing) also has most other popular linux distributions. Go back through the link to: ftp://ftp.nrc.ca/pub/systems/linux
To got more info about different distros have a look at http://www.linuxiso.org the [bold]"Best"[/bold] distro varies from person to person. Have a look at http://www.knoppix.org/ for a distro that will boot from as CD but is also installable on your hasrd drive. It has good hardware detection so you don't have to spend too much tie getting bits and pieces to work. It's also Debain based so you can use apt-get to install ne applications (and their dependancies) over the net (see http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/apt-howto/index.en.html for more info on apt-get) Jason
Thanks for the website. I have been out of touch with the Redhat world for about a year. I really good read on Fedora. I will have to make the switch once the stable version 2 is out. The Redhat 9, I installed is buggy on my P3 733Mhz. The stupid thing will not let me upgrade packages and has errored out on network. But this is from a recent install. I have tested Mandrake, Caldera, a Corel Linux release, and Redhat. I would say I like Redhat the best. Fedora, looks like a good project. Which Distros do other use here?
