i have a wireless router, linksys WRT300N, i connect to it wirelessly wih my pc, my 2 kids connect wirelessly with their laptops. i have a 2 meg line so it doesn't go far between the 3 of us. i have noticed how the kids can download things significantly faster than i do (like almost twice as fast) and it doesnt matter where they are situated in the house. i know i'm sounding greedy now, but i want to have the lions share of the speed. i do more downloading than they do, they do the odd mp3 and use messenger. is it possible to ration the speed(say 50% for me and 50% for the kids) through vista's network sharing?...or through the routers web interface??? or any other helpful suggestions would be appreciated. ok...i'm ready to be pillioried for being a big meany. thanks for listening
The only reason you should get a lower download speed than they do is if your wireless signal to the router is weaker. Perhaps consider getting a bigger antenna for your PC?
different cards also handle data streams differently. i've noticed that my laptop will download files quicker than my desktop even when they're ontop of each other in the same room with the same signal strength... just an observation.
yes, we tried downloading the same files from same sites, kids beat me hands down even though i have a superior system.
