I have a a few movies that I want to burn to DVD. Now I have been sucsessfull many times before and have made many dvds, but lately I'm having problems but I am not doing anything different.

I have my .avi file which I either convert to DVD format with divxtodvd converter, run the files thro dvd shrink to link them together and then burn with nero or dvd decrypter, or convert to .mpeg with tmpg and burn with Ulead Disc Creator 3 or Roxio Easy CD/DVD Creator 6 and in the past theses all work fine, but lately Im getting the lipsync out when burnt to disc and played on a dvd or thro my pc dvd drive. The actual converted 'file' plays fine thro windows media and all in sync.. Why am I suddenly getting this problem when burnt to dvd?? How do I stop it!!? Many Thanx..

    a few questions for you........
firstly, what media are you using to burn on?
secondly, what burner do you have? is the firmware up to date?
thirdly, what speeds are you burning at?

here's a tip, nero and roxio (as you say you have) don't play well together, dump roxio all together, and also some sections of nero, like all but burning rom and NVE.

lastly, can your stand alone play an .avi file already?

Hi, thanx for trying to help.. Right the media I use is either, Philips 4.7gb dvd+rw discs which I dont usually have probs with..I have some 'cheaper' unbranded discs..but I have burned the movie onto the Philips and it doesnt make any difference. Please note that this lipsync only occurs when I burnan .avi or converted .avi file, if I do a straight duplicate of a retial DVD it works fine.

The Burner is a Plextor PX-504A DVD Burner, (dvd+), at the time it was the best rated on the market, or one of the best! Firmware, not sure...

2x burning speed, slowest speed possible..

    Thanx. Any ideas!?!?!?

if your dvd player says it plays divx, xvid, and mpeg4, it will most likely play avi straight. in other words, you can pack multiple files with out having to re-encode them to mpeg2 to be able to play. that was just a thought.
try nero, i have done many avi files with nero vision express. some say it has one of the worst encoders, others not, it works for me. and my tip to you, use what works for you.
being that it is a free download (your avi files) you really cant complain, and keep in mind, the file is only as good as it was uploaded and downloaded. if it was a crappy upload or recording, nothing will make it better. i would suggest trying to look for files titled divx, or dvd rip for possible better results.
i have had your problem, lipsync error, and it was just due to bit rate. but you say you have burned at low speeds. possibly your media is the major problem, phillps is not very good media. use this proggy to ID your media and post back the results here.
    http://www.dvdinfopro.com/
its s trial version, but will ID your media.
you can also use dvd decrypter to ID it as well..
