What is your movie, perhaps it is the encryption on it and the program cannot handle it. It can mean that the program is trying to read something that is not there.

The movie I tried to rip was "An unfinished life" with Redford,Morgan and Lopez. I am not an advanced user of Smartripper so I have always just popped in a dvd and it just ripped. This is the first time I ever got this error. This error messg., I suspect, may be the result of a new copy guard. If anyone else has any input, please respond, thanks!!!

I am really not familiar with Smart Ripper, however if this is a recent release why not try another program to rip to see if it is protection or just the disk. Download DVDFab Decrypter and rip to your HDD, if it rips without a problem it is protection, if not then try cleaning the disk or you may need to take it back and get another original.

    DVDFab can be found here

DVDFab worked when no other decrypter i tried would work. Its so weird, I've been using nero recode to backup all my dvd's. And the last few dvd's i tried to copy Nero Recode couldn't or wouldn't do it. Smart Ripper is obsolete. It will never work with newer DVD's as fas as I'm concerned. DVDFab I thank you. And of course you arniebear. Thanks a mil!
