My lite-on 5005x recorder does not power on it displays hello on the built-in screen but does not power on further. Also unplugging letting it sit and reattaching it the the power did not fix it. Any suggestions fixes?
If your recorder Shows Hello it is Power On IF the unit does not recognize the DVD Drive The 5005x and most LiteOn/ilo recorders, even with HDD will stop at the Hello display and require a power plug Disconnect and will go through the same thing at startup Check the DVD drive and connections. Or it could be defective
The fact that it displays Hello and is stuck there, would lead me to the DVD drive first. Open the unit and check the DVD drive itself and its connections. If you find a problem and correct it, your home free. If not and and you have a Liteon drive for a PC or access to one, that you know is working. Plug it in place of the 5005x drive. The drive should be a LiteOn , just about any model with standard IDE and 4 pin connections’ will work. If the unit goes past Hello that’s it. A 160p or higher drive will not have a Fast Forward option. For all functions the drive needs to be a 1693s or lower The 5005x is worth saving While it can not be hacked It can be turned into an ilo R04 Which can be hacked. It can be returned to a 5005x and back. The process is simple.
The 5005x Can Not Be Hacked The 5005 Can [Some models and if the firmware hasen't been upgraded] [The 5005x Looks just like the ilo R04 Good Luck
What do you mean by some models in the 5005 can be firmware hacked if they haven't been upgraded. I went to the liteon website and typed in my details to download the latest firmware to link to hack.. I did all of this but the MV is still present, Should I have not got the latest firmware from the liteon website. My original serial no. was 0102 3640 0098 B208 (405 010D) Now it is 0102 3640 0101 B20G (000 - 010D)
[montessa] No – Upgrading to firmware 102 was not to your advantage for a MV Hack Check this site carefully. You are Not Alone. It would appear that you had firmware 098 and than upgraded to 102 http://www.ncc2315.com/ilo/ I do not have a 5005 but do have a 5045 with HDD so I might not be up on the very latest fixes The 5045 is not a problem [so far] as one, can go back to firmware 197. Some have reported that the latest versions of the 5005 cannot be hacked. Users of older units report success in going back to firmware 098 [US version], however it would appear that The US 098 firmware might be difficult to obtain. Someone at this site may jump in also Check and Post at these sites. http://www.techolio.com/forums/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=7 http://www.normediasolutions.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=12 It has been said that unless a firmware fixes a problem you face Don't upgrade and if you do be carefull that it will not cause a problem PS Take a look at this site and thread. Look at the 2nd post by [harpmaker] it may answer your question if not post it. You may have already http://www.techolio.com/forums/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2434
Thanks for your help, harpmaker helped out too. Thanks again, its great to get such good help. What the 5054 with hdd like??
[montessa] The 5045 is a good unit and is much the same as a 5005 [not a 5005x] I belive the 5045 is now out of production in the US [don't know about UK] The drive has been replaced with a LiteOn 1693s PC drive. This is an issue in itself. The 5005 drive can also be replaced Some newer units are now also both + and - disk and have greater features [like connecting a large USB HDD drive that would take the place of the built in HDD in the 5045, however they are compliant and cannot be hacked. Hang on to the 5005 they are good, can be hacked, will copy or filter anything? and can be used to feed any recorder. [they are worth some effort] Glad to be of Help and you got the answers you need. PS I have 2 ilo RHD04 with HDD that are like the 5045 without Allwrite and 2 ilo RO4 that are like the 5005 without Allwrite. The R04 units can be made to think they are a 5005x with Allwrite but as such they can't be hacked as the 5005 or as R04 can [they can go back to a R04] I would prefer a HDD and would opt for the 5045. If no HDD, I would opt for the 5005
