    What do i need as i have read that this is a new drive.Do i need the VT642 sata card?

    I am using the sata ports that came stock with my cpu..

    yes when i go to my device manager, i see PORT IO32-xbox360 i/o device drivers

    Well it might be an issue with your motherboard's SATA chipset. You might be able to change some settings in the BIOS. If that doesn't work, I would purchase the VIA SATA card with the 6421 chipset as it is guaranteed to work.

    Also, what is the manufacture date of this 83850C?

    July 2009...the editing the bios? im not sure how to do that? but i just ordered that chipset.How do i edit the bios?

    You wouldn't have to edit, just change some settings. Some BIOS have SATA settings that you can change like: Legacy, Normal, Enhanched.
