lite-on drivekey dumping

i wanted to flash my new lite-on drive so i was looking at some tutorials. im a total noob and i found this guide very helpful.
it tells me that i need a ck3 with probe. if i was going to bridge r707 would i still need to purchase this to dump the drive info. i dont want to spend $60 for something that i would only need once.

 

yes, but with that you dont need to bridge anything- you just stick the probe into the hole under the spot you were going to bridge.

 

Absolutely not.

You need to provide a little more info, though. What tut were you looking at where you read about bridging? There's a couple different routes you can take. And if you can solder you can save a lot of cash.

the same tutorial is on jungle flashers website and team executors website as well as many others. this one was just alot easier to understand and it went in depth with the steps. '

the r707 bridgeing is found on most websites that show u how to flash stock liteon

i just dont want to spend over 60 dollars for something im going to use once.

 

i talked to the guys at jungle flasher about if i need the ck3 or not. the said i do here is half of the conversation. ic ouldnt get the begining because i closed it in between:

No it's not necessary. Stop and think... they were flashing LO's before this hardware was introduced.

I did skim over the tut you posted in your first post and missed them mentioning bridging the 707. That's why I asked what other tut you had looked at. My bad. There are tuts for reading/flashing the LO's without using the CK or Maximus hardware. This is the most popular:

That's why I had mentioned if you can solder, you can save a bunch of dough. You can make the hardware yourself and it does work with the latest Jungle Flasher and Maximus reader. I just posted these pics of my homemade reader in another thread.




Now, I do use the original Connectivity Kit, which was released and I purchased years ago, for powering the drive. But again, that isn't necessary. You could just use your 360 for power.

It all boils down to what kind of experience you have. If you have a little soldering and technical know-how, this would be the ticket for you.

If not, you may want to bite the bullet and purchase the CK/Probe kit. You can always make your $$$ back on it.

 

i think im gtood on soldering. thats pretty much my dads business.

 

the one on that guide you posted and the opne u have look alot different. yours looks easier to make. did you make a guide for that.

 

Schmatics or diagrams tend to amplify the complexity of a project for those who aren't use to reading them. And that's quite understandable, of course. Actual pictures always trump drawings.

I must say i'd be interested in this, especially if it can all be done using the 360 power and not even having to buy the CK3!
Is there a tutorial on flashing the liteon drive using a diy probe and using the 360 for power? if not it'd be good to see one

I just use the regular Jungle Flasher guide. Give me a day, guys, and I'll rattle off some new pictures, parts list, and some step-by-steps. I'll make it good enough for the moderaters to sticky.

it looks like that does the same thing as the serial to usb convertor in bhetrick's tutorial but it connects to your computer in a different way

i just have one question. how do i connect that to my drive and my computer?
i think you are supposed to connect that db9 to computer. but im not sure aaout if im supposed to have my drive connected via sata or not. and idk what to exactly do with the alligator clip.

 

You connect the drive to your pc with the sata. The alligator clip connects to a 5 volt power source. So when you have your pc open to connect the sata cable, you can connect the clip to an open molex.
