Lite On DVD Burner firmware upgrade required

    ive a liteon dual layer dvd writer & i'd like to make it region free.
    ive been told that cos its a new writer i cant use any software to make it region free & therefore have to do a firmware upgrade.

    can anybody tell me

    1 - what & where i get the firmware upgrade from
    2 - how to do this as ive never done a firmware upgrade.

    You dont have to make the drive region free. Just use software that is region free. AnyDVD is one and there are others. I do not believe there is a firmware upgrade for the Liteon to make it region free. There is however alot of firmware for other drives such as the NEC 3520A and 3500 for region free operation.
