This may sound stupid but is it possible for your burner to burn out after several years of regular usage? The drive shows up and my firmware is FS02. I have been using the burner effectively with DVDXPlatinum made by X software so I have the newest version. When I try to burn a DVD, X Platinum reads the disc and tells me to insert a blank disc. The red light on my lite-on burner does not come on even though the program looks like it's working. I have not burned a disc for several weeks and am getting frustrated. I made sure that my X Platinum software is up to date. I use Any DVD as my ripper. Could it be that my burner has died and burned it's last disc? I am running out of options and don't know what else to do besides replace my Lite-on with a newer Lite-on dual burner. Any suggestions will be most appreciated.
Yes it is. It does sound like it's died but you wouldn't lose anything by trying diff. firmware (if you have the option of rolling it back to an earlier version) Burners are very cheap now anyway so if you have no luck with it, give it a decent burial.
