I got this standalone recorder a week or so ago,and not too impressed. It seems to take forever to load any dvd (burn-original-its own burn). The burns on it appear to be ok with my computer drive and the jvc standalone, but some dont want to play in it? You'd think if it made it, it could read it. It seems to do alot of "searching" on the disk when you ask it to do anything(skip,menu etc.). I got a rma from newegg and will be shipping it back tomorrow but only get a replacement. My question I guess is are these typical to this recorder. I got a Lite-on sohw1693 at the same time due to the death of my pioneer a07's writing abillity. These are my first lite on products did I screw up? Media used on recorder ,ritek 16x+ and sony 16x - Kurt
I have a 5115 and although it says it can record to DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW, I can only use the +RW so far. My two brands of +Rs don't work. I have not tried the -R or -RW. Has anybody else had problems? The 5116 just came out after I had bought mine at COSTCO. The firmware update is the same for both.
I'm waiting on mine to come back from newegg. i'll have the sony - , ritek+, and verbatum + if they dont work I think they'll have to take it back. Mine seemed to have problems reading not writing.
