When I test with Nero CD-DVD speed, it shows the correct burn rate at 8X but I can never get it to burn faster than 2X using either Nero or ImgBurn. I've tried both +R and -R with both 8X and 16X media. Lite On's website does not show any firmware or drivers for this drive. The driver being used is one from Microsoft dated 2001. grablife, I just installed my SHM-165H6S and it is working fine, I did go to Lite-On's web site and down load SmartBurn. With SmartBurn you can check information about your media, set SmartBurn and Hyper Tuning. Good Luck and Good Burning.
