i have a lite on dvd/rw sohw 1693sx and it onced burned.now it doesnt read any discs.just makes noises.i was burning a dvd from some other program than other nero. it stopped burning 60 %then 20 mins later i had to manually eject it. now it doenst read anything.its also listed as a cd drive. help me put an end to this headache. i just bought a **** load of blank dvd's 2 edit: it just finally now is listed under my computer as DVD-RW drive.but still doesnt read anything. i found out that the disc doesnt even spin inside after i looked at the disc i just put in is in the same position i left it
Well your 1st mistake was having a Lite-on drive, unless your computer came with it. then its just waiting untill it goes out so you can get a good one! Dont bother trying to repair them because there disposable, I recommend Sony, LG, Samsung, etc. Stick to name brands that are known for their quality. And you usually know when the drives junk if you hear (clicking, knocking, or any clanking noises.) Good Luck!
Go into device manager,uninstall drivers of that litey,and reboot.Double check all the cables. If it still makes noises,probably junk. You should be able to replace it for around $35
