I just installed a Liteon 165H6S, set as slave, and have burned a few Taiyo Yuden DVD+ 8x and am presented with the choice to burn at 6x, 8x or max. I have selected all speeds including max but the burns are always at 3x. The burns are fine but always 3x. DMA is on and the firmware is up to date, I believe (HSO6). Any ideas? Thanks
First you need to make sure that you have a working ASPI layer You also need to make sure that your hard drive has recently been defragged (by recently, I mean within the last few days) How much RAM do you have? How many processes are running while you're burning?
According to Nero, ASPI is not installed but there is a second Pioneer DVD writer that has been installed for over a year without ASPI installed and it works fine. Both writers recognize DVD's, so do I need it? The drive hasn't been defragged in the last few days and definitely needs it; 61%. Encoding seems to really fragment the drive. I have 2 G's of RAM and nothing is running when I burn but background programs like my AV. Are Liteon's more sensitive than other burners? I hve 2 Pioneer's and they're great, defrag or not. Anyway, I'll defrag and see what happens. Thanks for replying.
Well, I can cross that off. With the drive defragged to 0%, the burns are still at 3x. I'm off to check into ASPI now. Thanks again
