Ok, so I dumped my liteon 93 key successfully right? Well now it won't read games, cd's, movies, anything. No, I did not attempt a firmware flash, I simply put everything back together. Basically, what it does is it will close and say 'reading' but never actually read the content.

Which of the two connections that I severed would cause that? Because I am fairly certain that I soldered both of them correctly.

    Any ideas?

    Regards

to clarify, my question is do you think i need to re-resolder the severed traces together?

ya, you need to reconnect the traces when its all done. however, i wouldnt solder them (risk of burning the board). i would just get some conductive paste and use it. i've read a few posts where people use that and its worked great for them.

I tried some conductive paste but that did not work. So I soldered it. I was told that if the connections I made were not good, the dvd drive wouldn't even work, so I am assuming they are correct.

I have no idea what it could be, possibly the ribbon cable connecting the I/O board to the laser?

If anyone has ideas/suggestions, I'm more than willing to listen!

    Regards
