Hello, I bought one of these drives and found out that it says LDW-411 on the box but when you hook it up and look in Device manager it shows as a ldw-451 After calling the Liteon tech supportline and waiting about 40 minutes to talk to someone the tech told me that they are very different One the 411 is a DVD- and DVD+ burner The 451 is only a DVD- burner The 451 should be a cheaper drive. And told me that he didnt even think that it would burn CD's I havent tried to burn one but when I stick a CD blank in the drive it knows what it is I was told by the tech that he thought that maybe the store repacked it wrong hmmmmmmmmmmm I got mine from a PC club or EAPOWER depending on how you know them. Where did you get yours? If its from another store other then the fore mentioned then I would guess that Liteon made the oops I am stuck. I am unable to get a DVD to finish loading to my HD to burn it to test because mine is hanging at 99% then gets an error that it cant read the disk THIS IS B.S How is yours doing and is anyone else getting this issue?
YES!!!!! THANK YOU man I was about to loose my mind I had to take a MSI back before this one because it would make usable disks for the home dvd unit and they had no fix then I got this one. Maybe you can help me with the Hanging at 99% deal Im getting an error at 99% unable to read DVD? I am using dvd xpress Any help
P.S The Liteon tech support must really suck if they dont know there products that well hmmm most interesting.
I got this from LiteOn: Thanks for contacting LiteOn Customer Service. The difference between the 411S and 451S is that they have some different components. The 451S has beter pick-up which makes the access time shorter the the 411S. Best regards,
Thanks Amd, I was starting to think I got ripped off. I still have a problem with DVD coping to the Hard drive it locks at 99% have you goten that problem brfore? What is a good software to use to make backup copies of my DVD movies?
I bought, and returned a 451s. The audio burning capabilities though, are surperb, all tests show great results, even with the cheapest CD-R's, and it's a 40X burner. But I have a large amount of RitekG03's, with these the burns were totally unaceptable. And the drive does seem rather cheap and noisy. Here's what a 2x RitekG03 burn looks like, notice the major hole/read problems in the center and slow read speed. This is a G03 burned on my LG, a near perfect match and better read speeds. This burn should play right in just about anything. But the LG's audio burning is pathetic.
