i had to get the adapter for it and when i try to install the firmware for it, it doesnt read it? all it sees is my other burner. any answers?
If you are talking about a sata to usb adapter. I don't think you can flash the drive with it. The adapter should work for burning with, after the drive is flashed.
i put mine in an external case, works great never had a problem with it, flashed it in the external no problems.
I just have mine internal with a normal SATA cable and it functions normally, well with verbs (which I'm going to use from now on) but not with my cheaper mirror RICOHJPN media I just can't get a good burn on them at all no matter what settings I use and the xbox cant read them properly.
Ahh, I see. So you don't have sata on your motherboard. Look closely at the adapter, some of them have a jumper on them to set if the drive being adapted is at master or slave. And the one's that don't, from my experience with them will probably only work with one drive on the ide cable. I have not used one in a pc but have used several in liteon and clone set top dvd recorders. I found the one's made by kingwin seem to work best, because they have the jumper. I am sure others do to, I just seem to stick with what is tested to work for me.

Yeah, looks like it should. From there vague description of it though, it may only support hard drives not atapi. It does say 1 ide to 1 sata though, so I would make sure it is the only drive connected to the ide port, not on the same cable as the other dvd or hard drive. Also when I use them, I use epoxy to cover the pins on the backside of the power connector on the adapter. I would at least use some electrical tape and stick it to the back of the drive so the pins on the adapter don't touch the casing of the drive.
Sorry to correct you but i have just this last week flashed a ihas124b with sata to usb and a molex power supply.Burns perfect mw3,forza 4,skyrim,battlefield 3
Never be sorry to correct me. In my experience most will not, because it see the chipset in the converter instead of the drive. If you have found one that does work, instead of just saying an adapter, point them to what adapter it is. Or at least tell them what brand and model it is.
Try flashing/burning with only one device on that connector. I also use SATA to IDE...just didn't want to play nice with the other burner in my system. Once removed, everything was fine.
I am thinking the adapter may be for hdd only. These are the 2 I have had best luck with. Notice one of them has jumper for master or slave. The other one has jumper for ide to sata or sata to ide. Neither of these claim compatibility with atapi but they both do. The second one is the one I use most. The kingwin, it is around $7. The addonics I use when the device I am working on is stubborn, because it is almost $30.
