LITEON LVW 5005 I have this model & it now will not allow me to eject the disc I have tried turning the power off and nothing has happened. Any help ?? Thanks
try checking inside the system, see if the cable connecting to the motherboard to your Cd-rom drive is properly connected. and check the pins at the back of your cdrom drive, if other pins are missing or dislocate in there position, buy a new cdrom cable. I recommend to check also the cdrom cable.
The original drives that are installed in these LVW-5005 recorders aren't the best. Mine stopped working properly after several years of use. I was happy . . I've since installed LiteOn DVD burners meant for a PC in them and WOW!! they work better than new! SOHW1693 and the SHW160P6S series both work great. The 160P6S05 is on sale at NewEgg right now for $27.99 with free shipping. Easy install . . the LVW-5005 uses a standard power and ide cable just like inside your PC Click on my name and look around, I have instructions how to swap drives Victor
[catfreak] Have replaced a number of DVd drives [813, 1633, 1653, 1673 and 1693] all with ok success on all functions. Thh 5005 and 5045 Some have reported problems with the 160 series namely the 165 not working on all functions like Fast Forward Have you had any problems like this with these drives. I have avoided them but that may not be correct.
The only problem that I've encountered with the 160 is that, for some reason, it won't record SVCD . . Since I really don't use my machines for anything other than recording TV programs, I really don't care. As far as fast forwarding . . I never use the 5005 for playback . . I usually ose my Philips DVP642 . . Victor
[ catfreak ] Thanks for info I also do not use the 5045 or RHD04 for play or care about SVCD Some do use the play function. While I haven't A friend in the Midwest installed a 160 and reports no problems on any function But a number of reports indicate the 165 does not work properly on all functions LiteOn has done some weird things with firmware that may have made the 165 a problem as a replacement in standalones I will give the 160 a shot Thanks Again the price is a good one
catfreak i am in need of a set top dvd recorder for my Sony 26" LCD tv in my bedroom are the Lite-Ons the way to go? and which model
I like the LVW-5005 LiteOn simply because there is tons of on-line support for it and the drive is super easy to replace when it conks out . . all recorders will eventually have drive problems so it's nice to be able to stick a 'real' drive into one You do need to keep in mind that a DVD recorder, while it will replace a VCR, is not a VCR . . there is a longer start up time and when you put a new disc in one, it takes 15 seconds or so to initialize it . . . Victor
You can get one here for $100 and then there's a $10 mail in rebate that will make the total price $89.99 http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=170665&prodlist=pricegrabber
