When trying to copy old copy-protected VHS tapes to my hard drive the process shuts down because of the protection (even though the tape are no longer available), does anyone have any remote control codes that I can use to bypass this hazard or point me in the direction where they can be found. .....................Maurice..............

I also have a liteon. I didnt know there was such a thing as protection on VSH tapes. Mine are very old as well. I purchased the liteon to convert the VSH's to DVD's. Thats when I learned the machine has the "chip" and wont do that. Yes, it just stops and tells you it can not record. I recently purchased a stabilizer and am trying to convert that way. Still having problems. Going to call the stabilizer company this morning. Good luck.
hrdwrker You say you have a lIteon unit What Model is it? Many Commercial VHS tapes had CP in the form of Analgg MV. Some [black boxe] may work on some tapes, not all, You may not need any If you do need the support of another device A TBC [Time Base Corrector] might be the best for your use
