that would be the Firmware upgrade for my DVD drive

and i know it's not the media....cus i buy the same media everytime, and it's always worked before :'( and i have plenty of RAM so i don't think that should be a problem :S

    Bael ,
    Welcome to the forum,
I would guess most of the members will wait until they get the bugs worked out as there already is a screwup w/ the program. If you click from the burning Rom to Xpress and back it locks the program up or something like that.

I would uninstall Nero. Use Add/ remove . Then D/L Nero Cleantools all of them and clean the computer. From what was mentioned on another site this still leaves some registry settings and they have to be manually removes. If you are not familiar w/ the registry then do not do a manual clean.

D/L a Free Registry Cleaner ( Google for one) and after using the clean tools then clean the registry and see what is there.

Now re-boot and reinstall Nero 6 and do not install 7 w/ 6 on the computer in any form. An Update is coming out in a week so just wait

    Log errors
    1. 01:36:42 #30 SPTI -1194 File SCSIPassThrough.cpp, Line 306
    CdRom0: SCSIStatus(x02) WinError(0) NeroError(-1194)
    Sense Key: 0x03 (KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR)

Does not like the blank media

    2. 01:27:32 #13 Text 0 File SCSIPassThrough.cpp, Line 56
Error on LockVolume: Access is denied.

That error code is a new one on me. I'll have to get back to you on that

    3. Recorder: <LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S>Version: BRS6
    Need firmware update to BSOS

    Go here: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?category=4&manufactor=17

EDIT; That second error code is beyond me. Where is Creaky when you need him

k well i'll just wait for the upgrade in a week see if that fixes anything with 7, if not i'll do the whole clean install of 6 thing :p i'm not in a mad rush to burn anything, just freeing up some hdd space :p

i've never had a problem with this media before.....

lol it's the only media i've ever used :S and this is the first time i've had it fail on me :s

and i tried to upgrade the firmware, i posted a link to a picture in my previous post, this is when i tried to upgrade to BSOS..

    Bael ,
Suggest you run that one by Lite-On as it is Odd. There is a firmware update and yet you can not get the program to detect the burner

quick question, where did you purchase your media? this is the Taiyo Yuden coding on a 8x dvd-r media, however, if you got FAKE TAIYO YUDENS with this coding, that just MIGHT be your problem...other than the nero 7 being problematic, awaiting the "update" or whatnot...i choose personally to stick to nero 6, because it's solid and i haven't had problems with it as of yet :)

    anyways,
i have the same drive as well, but, i also know 100% that my TYs are GENUINE...look on the inner hub for a laser coding...it should be in the following format:

GG000xxx (where xxx is the batch number for AUTHENTIC Taiyo Yudens), just wanted to make sure that your media is REAL TYs before troubleshooting further...waiting for creaky's other suggestions as well~ where is nero master log reader ?? LOL

    docTY~

i heard my name across the oceans.... :)

I haven't read the thread yet, got here vi PM so i'll look at logfile first, then read the bits n' bobs after and see if we all meet in the middle..

    - see you're following Car.Mike's suggestions re ditching 7.0 for a while. good idea. i won't go 7.x myself but that's cus 7.x will have nothing i need; i do audio/data cd's so can use Nero 6.x for that, and all my dvd work is done by Shrink/Decrypter so all Nero has to do is burn standard 'dvd-video' compilations, again 7.x isn't gonna help me with anything there.

    - as to the firmware, that's very nearly the problem i had with my 1693S (ugh!). i had the same error "no matched drive detected" except i don't have 422 virtual drives like you!, and the firmware flat out refused and said i didn't have a lite-on. Lite-on are a little slack in the coding of their firmware updates if you ask me..(the only way i could flash the firmware was to hook drive up in my spare pc and flash, then bring it back. but i still couldn't book type the drive so i returned it as faulty. the replacement 1693S did the same. so i don't use Lite-on anymore for now. anyway my point here is get rid of the 422 virtual drives you have there, try the firmware again. if that doesn't work maybe you can flash it in another or someone else's pc).

    - i can see from the port this burner is connected to, that the drive is internal, so this question mark means your ATAPI drivers aren't loaded correctly. See last paragraph as to fixing them

    - maybe try uninstalling the 422 virtual drives 'til you get everything sorted :)

    - this media code will forever more make me ask the same as kivory666, i got stung with FAKE TYG02 (before i knew they were fake) so every time i see them in a log i ask similar questions to kivory666, re their authenticity..

    - hmmm, wondering if that needs looking into a little, i have an idea what that might be...see if this helps - http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y178/creaky/untickcdrecordinginXP.jpg

    - maybe that's linked to previous error (Nero 7 has a lot more differing error messages than 6.x so am working some of them out as i go along..)

    - let's see if the TYG02 are authentic..

    - i interpret this to be a symptom of the other problems, not an error in itself

    - splat!

    - try 4x after sorting all the other things..

    - your ATAPI drivers aren't listed in this paragraph, fix via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

    @Bael
Creaky has been all over this log so i can't add much other than i have the same drive as you, and i got the same error as you, when i tried to upgrade my drive to BSOS. I had to go two versions down and install that first. Then i went to the BSOS, and it took. Mine gave the exact same error as you got. My firmware was older than yours, but i made it up to BSOS by doing the progressive upgrade method. What kept throwing me off was that statement that this firmware is only for: and it lists my drive exactly. Now my litey burns like a forest fire with no problem.

    @ kivory666

I bought the media from rlsupplies.co.uk i'm guessing they must be fake cus they have no laser coding anywhere on the discs :s but i still don't understand how this can be the problem, when the media has always worked fine in the past xD

    @ creaky

I managed to upgrade my firmware, using an unofficial patched version os BSOS, from here:

    http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html

you can also open there firmware with omnipatcher( http://codeguys.rpc1.org/patchers.html ) and edit thing you want to change...it also fixes soem other stuff with the drive that the original BSOS didn't something to do with the LED...anyway...i flash'd my drive with no problems at all using their FW, and i can now also use the officialy firmware since i updated...but i'm gunna stick with the unofficial one :p

as far as i can tell i upgraded the atapi drivers aswell. ie i found the drivers for my thing using thedevice manager..downloaded..and installed...but i can't tell any difference lol xD...

    disabled the virtual drives :p

That box was checked in teh drives properties? should it be? or should i uncheck it?

didn't need to try it at 4x :p it works :D thanx for the help guys :)

    @ MaxBurn

I tired to the progressive upgrade as you suggested, and i downloaded all the firmwares that are available for my drive....and i got the same error with all of them...so i got my hand on an unofficial BSOS FW :) worked liek a charm :) (see above for more details)

think i'm gunna downgrade back to v6 of nero anyway....not that i ever use the Burning Rom, i always use express...i'd just like to know that i can if i want to lol xD nero7 jus crashes when i try to use the ROM, Only thing i use nero for anyway is Data and MP3 dvds :p

Thanx Again guys :D you rock :p

    Bael

though when i checked my log after it completed succesfully, i still don't have the atapi thing you were talking about :s

if you're happy for now maybe keep burnig and come back to this thread when you have problems again. which you will if those are fake discs. i used 500 fake TYG02 disks before i knew they were fake. ie they appeared to burn ok but started to play up a few months after being burnt. see 1st link in my sig for the horrors of fake tyg02; however make sure to check the discs in a bright light and look for the codes again as per kivory666. if they're fakes i'd be very careful of buying media TY from them again. if you want genuine discs try www.svp.co.uk...
